Pimlico, a district of central London, sits next to the north side of the river Thames. Its appeal as a place in which to live has grown in recent years.

1. The Warwick
In the past, pubs were all about drinking, not necessarily eating. Expectations were lower in regards to food. At best you could expect a decent round of sandwiches, a ploughman’s lunch or a warmed-up steak pie. Now, people demand a higher standard of cuisine. This has led to a rise in the number of gastropubs.
The Warwick is one of the best gastropubs in Pimlico. It serves excellent food both in the bar and dining room. Bar snacks include ‘flaming chorizo’ and king prawn tempura with sweet chili sauce, while the dining menu boasts the vegetarian option of roast cauliflower with pine nuts and capers, while non-vegetarians can indulge in ‘crispy pigs head’ with burnt apple. An extensive wine list is on offer, and there is a selection of ales and lagers on tap.
The Warwick offers a warm welcome to everyone – including dogs. Free Wi-Fi is also available.
2. Clarendon Cocktail Cellar
Over 150 years ago, the building which now houses the Clarendon Cocktail Cellar was a Victorian public house heaving with people in search of good drinks and a good time.
Now, in the cellar of that Victorian pub, today’s socialisers can enjoy themselves below the streets of Pimlico drinking exotic cocktails, beer and cider.
The Clarendon Cocktail Bar serves a wide range of lagers, ales and ciders along with an interesting collection of wines. Who could resist sampling a cocktail called Driving Miss Daisy, Kill Bill, or The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo?
The Clarendon will take bookings for parties of four or more and has a private booth for parties of fifteen.
3. CASK Pub & Kitchen
If cocktails are not your favourite tipple then the Cask Pub & Kitchen may be the place for you.
Opened in 2009 by Martin Hayes, a man born and bred in Pimlico, this publican aims to bring the British pub into the twenty-first century.
If someone considers themselves a connoisseur of beer, the Cask Pub & Kitchen offers ten cask ales, 15 keg lines, and 300 bottle beers.
When it comes to food, the choice is almost as vast. You can choose from over forty burgers. The meat from these burgers is sourced from Freemans of Pimlico, a butcher, and a holder of a Royal Warrant by appointment to Her Majesty the Queen.
On Sunday, you can enjoy a traditional Sunday roast and music to finish the day.
4. The Marquis of Westminster
The Marquis of Westminster features regularly on the list of the best pubs in Pimlico, and is often referred to as Pimlico’s village pub.
It certainly has plenty to offer people: a cosy basement bar, a ground floor bar, and a first floor restaurant. The restaurant has been decorated in a way that separates it from the buzzing bar downstairs.
The food served in both the bar and restaurant is of the highest quality. Bar snacks are served between 11am -10pm. There is an all-day menu also served between those hours. Dinner is served between 5pm –10pm, Monday to Saturday.
The Marquis of Westminster offers people a choice of drinking in a cellar bar, a pub bar or the opportunity to dine in an elegant restaurant.
5. The Constitution
Recently refurbished, this pub on Churton Street might be described as a ‘real local’. You can always guarantee a smile from the friendly staff, the portions are generous, and the prices are fair.
